SURGICAL COMPLICATIONS in DENTAL IMPLANTOLOGY

Dental implants reserve a wide place in the management of missing teeth in modern dentistry. Common use of dental implants is associated with some complications. As insertion of dental implants is a surgical procedure, basic surgical principles and possible complications should ve taken into consideration in planning. Surgical complications in dental implantology is the major cause for early failure. Furthermore, injury of anatomical structures may adversely effect patients’ life in the long post-operative period. In case of jaw deficiency, use of graft materials may increase the risk of surgical complications. The aim of this presentation is to assess the surgical complications and to discuss the possible management madalities in dental implant surgery.

Dr. Çağrı DELİLBAŞI graduated from TED Ankara College in 1992 and from Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry in 1997. He completed his PhD at Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery between 1997-2001. He was granted for Japanese Governmental scholarship between 2001-2003 at Osaka University. He worked at Yeditepe University as a lecturer and associate professor between 2003-2011. Since 2011 he has been at İstanbul Medipol University school of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a professor and head of the department. Dr. Delilbaşı has many publications and presentations in the dental literature.
