Merva Soluk Tekkeşin has been a lecturer at Istanbul University Oncology Institute Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology department since 2011. In 2003, she graduated from İ.Ü. Faculty of Dentistry and completed her PhD in 2010 in the field of Tumor Pathology. Dr. Soluk Tekkesin worked at King’s College London, Guy’s Hospital, Head & Neck and Oral Pathology department as a resident with her temporary diploma equivalence. In that time, she was the first international resident who was admitted with Tier 5 (work visa) in the UK and completed the process successfully. In 2010-2014, she was the secretary of the Head and Neck Pathology Working Group of Turkey. Moreover, in 2014-2020, she was the representative of Europe at International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologies. Since 2020, she’s been the first digital communication representative of the same organisation. Her main interests are odontogenic lesions, fibro-osseoz lesions, oral cancers, oral potentially malignant lesions and also digital pathology and artificial intelligence applications. She has several publications searched at international indices and she is an author of book chapters including the World Health Organization’s Head and Neck Tumors Book, the 4th edition of which was published in 2017 and 5th edition in 2022. Dr. Soluk Tekkeşin was selected as ‘Visiting Professor’ by Tehran University, Medical Sciences in 2018-2021. In health sciences, she received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award of Turkish Sciences Academy (TUBA) in 2019.
