What Is Not Required in Endodontic Treatment
Although official history of endodontics has started in 17th century, beginning of modern endodontics is the year 1943, which is the foundation date of American Association of Endodontics.
In entire process, hundreds of materials had been used in endodontic diagnosis and treatment. On the other hand, most of these materials has been eliminated as a result of scientific research and clinical observations.
In this presentation, whole process will be scrutinized from the materials and techniques used daily, but not required, to necessary materials and methods for successful root canal treatment.
He finished his dental education in School of Dentistry, Ege University in 1986 by receiving D.D.S. title and started his PhD program in Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontology in same school.
After receiving a scholarship by Higher Education Council, he continued preliminary studies of his Ph.D. thesis in Department of Endodontics, School of Dentistry in University of Amsterdam.
He finished his studies in 1994 and received the Ph.D. title.
He received TÜBİTAK research grant and accomplished a series of studies in University of Connecticut Health Center in 1996.
He was appointed as associate professor in 1998.
In 1999, Hans Genet Foundation and European Society of Endodontology awarded him as the “Best Active Researcher”.
He received a research grant by Campbell Foundation in 2001 and he accomplished a series of studies about the fungi infections in endodontics in UCLA.
He was appointed as tenure professor in 2004.
He retired from E. U. School of Dentistry in January 2013.
His singular or collaborative research studies have received 14 awards in national or international platforms.
He has more than 150 articles published in national or international scientific journals. He has presented more than 300 lectures and courses in national or international congresses and meetings.
His research articles have received more than 2000 citations and his H-index (WOS) has reached 25.
He worked as an editor in a translated book and made contribution to two other books.
In addition to working as an endodontist in his private office, he has been organizing lectures, workshops and hands-on courses for dentists.
