Minimally Invasive Treatment for Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH)
Defined as a developmental defect of enamel, MIH is characterized by demarcated opacities ranging from white and cream to yellow and brown, sometimes surrounded by normal enamel. This condition affects the incisors and is accompanied by one or more molar teeth. Depending on its severity, resin-based fissure sealants and fillings, stainless steel crowns and even tooth extraction may be considered as a treatment option for teeth affected by MIH. In this presentation, the differential diagnosis and diagnostic criteria, clinical features, symptoms seen in mild-moderate and severe cases will be examined in relation to this clinical condition, and considering of the patient’s need within the minimally invasive concept, ART, protective applications, fluor applications, restorative treatments and extractions will be examined and clinical procedures will be compared and the results will be discussed on a case-by-case and evidence-based basis.
