prof. Dr. Pınar Kursoglu

Diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders including snoring, sleep apnea and bruxism generate the field of sleep dentistry.
Snoring and sleep apnea characterized by the interruption of respiration during sleep, are life-threatening sleep disorders with inadequate oxygen intake during sleep and poor sleep quality.
Bruxism, which is one of the sleep disorders, is an insidious factor that may cause temporomandibular disorders and threatens the clinical success of dentists and the patient-doctor trust relationship because it is mostly not noticed by patients.
Today, it has been revealed that our role as dentists is very important among professionals who diagnose sleep disorders, raise awareness and provide treatment, and work in increasing the quality of life of patients in the long term.
In this conference, the recognition and management of bruxism which includes occlusal splints and botox applications will also be explained for sustainable clinical success.

Graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry. In the same Faculty, Kursoglu started to her postgraduate education in the Department of Prosthodontics.

In 1996 during postgraduate education, went to America and got the opportunity to work with Jeffrey Okeson, director of the “Orofacial Pain Center” and with his team about “Temporomandibular Disorders-TMD” (Temporomandibular Joint and Masticatory Muscle Disorders) in University of Kentucky.   After that experience, came back to homeland and completed her PhD programme.

Kursoglu started working at Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry as ‘Assistant Professor’ and took the degree of ‘Associate Professor’ and ‘Professor’ respectively in the same university.

Prof. Kursoglu pursues her clinical and scientific researches for over 25 years, mainly about temporomandibular disorders, occlusion, fixed and removable prosthetic applications including laminates and implant supported prosthesis, sleep dentistry (bruxism, snoring and sleep apnea). In these fields, she takes part in conferences and courses as a lecturer.
Pinar Kursoglu is still a member of Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics as a Professor.
