Indications of Cone Beam CT and Evaluation Principles

The most common indications of Cone Beam CT (CBCT) which şis considered as a very helpful imaging method for maxillofacial imaging include assessment of the location of impacted teeth, monitoring dento-alveolar traumas, orthognatic surgery planning and treatment follow up, planning implant surgeries and endodontic treatments and diagnosis and treatment of odontogenic cysts and tumors. In addition, dentists use CBCT to produce guide plaques in order to complete implant surgery in the optimal way and avoid implant failures. CBCT can also be used in orthodontic treatment planning and airway analysis. However, CBCT works with ionized radiation in addition to its wide range of indications. Therefore, it is crucial to perform CBCT imaging with the right indications and assess the resulting images appropriately.
